A Day of Investing...
Smith & Solomon’s Job Placement Director, Todd Hyland attended Burlington Community College’s Youth Symposium on Monday, October 20th, an event sponsored by the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders & Workforce Investment Board. The event was created to have all surrounding freshman and sophomore high school students attend and educate them in becoming career ready, by providing workshops on developing life skills, time management, resume creation, and interview and job search techniques.
Hyland attended as a representative for their Transportation, Logistics & Distribution sector of the event, presenting the students with elaborate industry statistics and explanations of employment opportunities. To culminate the presentation, every group session was able to view a Smith & Solomon training vehicle outside of the campus. Some were even able to step inside and honk the horn.
It was a privilege to attend the symposium and contribute to this event as a source of information to the youth who may have been in the unknown about the possibilities and careers that exist in the transportation and logistics industry. We at Smith & Solomon believe in contributing to the communities around us in helping to shape the youth into becoming successful and career-oriented adults.
Received my CDL training through the Bordentown, NJ location 6 years ago. Got placed with Swift upon getting license. Gave them almost 2 years, and now I am working for a local company in Cranbury. Best decision of my life! The only advice I can give to the new students, is to NEVER STOP LEARNING!! There is something new every day to learn. Just keep your eyes and ears open. Never let your guard down.
