Truck Drivers Salaries Continues to Increase
New Driver Opportunities
Continues salary increase, health benefits, bonuses, generous retirement plans, are just some of the great benefits the trucking industry is offering new drivers. Recent graduates have plenty of opportunities waiting for them. According to The American Trucking Associations recent survey, annual truck-driver salaries rose between 15% and 18% from 2013 to 2017. Due to the large demand for truck drivers, new drivers can take advantage of all the benefits.
Furthermore, the survey showed the median salary for a truckload driver working a national, irregular route was over $53,000 – a $7,000 increase from ATA’s last survey for 2013, or an increase of 15%. For private fleets or owner-operators they earned $86,000 for 2017 from $73,000 in 2013 for a nearly 18% increase.
To incentivize new drivers major trucking companies and fleets are offering generous signing bonuses and benefits packages to attract and keep drivers. As a result of lack of drivers, major companies are doing their best to make the professional truck driver career more attractive for new drivers.
