Is the Trucking Industry Fit for Women? Absolutely.

Tuesday, February 4, 2014

Historically, the commercial trucking industry has been overwhelmingly dominated by men.  But many people don’t realize that women have a significant presence in the commercial trucking industry, and that their number are increasing every year.  The truth is, women are needed to join this industry.

This video from Volvo Trucks highlights Women in Trucking, a non-profit organization dedicated to recruiting women into the commercial trucking profession.  You’ll also learn about some of the reasons why commercial trucking is a particularly lucrative career for women looking for high paying work.

To learn more about what it takes to become a commercial truck driver, contact Smith & Solomon Commercial Driver Training today.  We specialize in CDL training programs that get you the licensing you need to drive commercial, trucks, as well as forklift operator training.  Please call 1 (800) 622-0355 for information on training in Philadelphia, New Jersey and Delaware.

I graduated your school during the summer of 2012 and landed a local driving job immediately and haven't looked back since. My life is back on track after being laid off in early 2012 and I'm on target to make over $75,000 this year. Again, thank you for the new skill. I just learned that truck drivers are more in the demand than ever as rules, laws, and regulations get more challenging, along with the next generation of truck drivers starting to retire creating a big hole in the industry.

Thank you All for Everything
