“Truck drivers are getting America's biggest pay raises” per CNN Money, but WHO is taking it home?  The trucking industry is America’s back bone to deliver goods across the country. In addition, this multi-billion dollar industry continued growth leading to a high demand for new truck drivers to deliver our country’s goods. Because there is a shortage of truck drivers, trucking companies are taking strong actions by investing in newer equipment with modern amenities, improving driver’s lifestyles and time at home by structuring routes to meet driver requirements.  Pre-hiring students while still in school and substantially increasing pay.  All to supply qualified drivers to fulfil their demand.

The job searching website Glassdoor.com says “truck drivers’ wages grew 7.8% in October, compared to a year ago,” and that it was the biggest jump among 60 common professions. This is a great opportunity for new truck drivers joining the industry.

Dr. Andrew Chamberlain, Chief Economist from Glassdoor.com says “We have a booming economy, we’re seven years into the expansion and truck drivers are the front line.”

According with the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics truck drivers will earn income of $42,500. Keeping in mind that there is a shortage of 48,000 drivers; for a total of $20,400,000,000 that you or someone you know could have a piece of. Further more per BLS, employment of heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers is projected to grow 21% from 2010 to 2020, faster than the average occupation.
